New website template: Odeum

New website template: Odeum post thumbnail image

One of the standout elements of a website is the header section – it’s what people see first when visiting your page. If you’re looking for a theme that places the spotlight on your website’s header image (or video!), then Bandzoogle’s new ‘Odeum’ template is for you!

This new website template was built to include a full-screen-width section dedicated to the header image or video. It also offers new customization and animation options that can effectively bring your website header to life – catching the attention your header deserves.

You can change your theme at any time, without your content being affected, so if your website could use a refresh, here’s what the Odeum template can offer you.

Spotlight on your header section

As the first thing a visitor sees when they load your website, it’s important to make your page header stand out.

The Odeum template does just that, providing a full-width header section, along with adjustable height settings. These height parameters allow you to finetune how tall you’d like the section to be in order to display your header image or header video.

Odeum’s full-width header image displays behind your site title and call-to-action in the page header. In your Edit Content tab, upload a header image featuring a visual for your project. A landscape-style image (longer than it is wide) will work best here.

The Odeum template also includes tiling options, which are new! These options allow you to place a colored rectangular tile behind your Site Title, ‘Call-to-Action’ feature, and Titles within your page sections. The colors of those tiles can be customized in your design settings to complement your website. This option is fabulous in neon shades if you want a contemporary callback to style trends of the 80s-90s.

There are a few extra style perks featured in this template for the header section as well: interior pages also include a header image, and you can control the height of the header section on interior pages, differentiating them from the home page.

Mobile display options

The Odeum website template includes a few new options you can use to finetune how your website displays on tablets and mobile devices.

In addition to the usual mobile and tablet preview options in the Edit Theme tab, the Odeum template includes an option to set a custom header height for your website’s display on mobile, so you can control how much space your header image takes up when viewed on a mobile device.

Additionally, you’ll see settings to customize how the ‘Site Title’ displays on mobile devices: ‘Custom mobile size’ allows you to set a specific font size for mobile devices only, and toggling on the ‘Apply letter spacing on mobile’ option will apply your letter spacing settings to the ‘Site Title’ text on mobile, rather than having it fit to the space available on the device screen as most other templates do automatically.

Animation options

Yet another perk for your website’s header styling, the Odeum website template offers options to animate your header section on page loading. By toggling on the ‘Animations on page load’ in your Edit Theme tab, the elements of your header section will fade in in sequence when your page loads, starting with the Site Title fading in, followed by the elements of the Call-to-Action feature. This is a great option to add loading dynamics to your website!

You can also use the option to add a full width background to the Site Title section. This background frame can be set up with transparency for a slick overlay look. Combined with a header video and the loading animation options, your website header can be SUPER dynamic, grabbing the attention of your website visitors right away and setting the stage for their experience of your music.

New fonts styles and spacing options

To go along with our latest website template releases, our designers have selected 12 modern, updated fonts. Each of these 12 new fonts can now be used with any template offered in your Bandzoogle account — mix and match and see if a new font will make your design pop even more.

The new fonts are sharp and contemporary, and each one was selected specifically by our team for its strong design and compatibility with many themes. The new fonts available to you are: Tac One, Ojuju, Micro 5, Jacquarda Bastarda 9, Rubik Doodle Shadow, Kode Mono, Anta, Madimi One, and the Protest series (Strike / Riot / Revolution / Guerilla).

Not many people are using them yet, so you can easily give your website a stylistic edge by using these new typography styles!

New stock imagery

Along with releasing the new Odeum website template and new fonts, our designers added new images to the bank of stock imagery available to Bandzoogle members.

Bandzoogle offers stock images in the following categories: Abstract, Country, Cover Band, DJ, Festivals, Folk, Geat, Heavy Metal, Instruments, Jazz, Live, Misc., Music Teacher, Other, People, Rap/Hip-Hop, Record Label, and Scenery.

The new batch of stock images was mostly rounding out the options available in the Abstract category, but there are great images available in all styles and they’re entirely free for Bandzoogle members to use on their websites – check ’em out! (Hot tip: even if you’re using your own custom header image or video, the stock image options are great choices for styling your page section backgrounds!)
